New Zealand Trade and Enterprise
Brendan Mahar is New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s International Market Manager for South America. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the Government’s international business development agency, helping to boost global reach and build capability so our companies can grow bigger, better, faster.
Brendan works closely with the NZTE’s NZ based account managers and South America team, where NZTE has staff based in Sao Paulo servicing the Brazil market and staff in Santiago, Chile, servicing the Spanish speaking South America countries. NZTE leverage our connections and government influence on behalf of businesses, and apply local knowledge – from the NZTE team and a network of private sector experts – to help them enter and grow in international markets.
Brendan has been involved with LANZBC since 2011. He has worked in South America in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile, and has travelled throughout the region on business. His highlights during this time include the Prime Minister lead business mission to Latin America in 2013 and various other business missions and ministerial visits. However, his particular highlight is working closely with NZ businesses and sharing their journey as they commence and grow commercial relationships in South America.
Brendan also has a personal connection with South America through his Argentian wife and their “Argy-Kiwi” children. Brendan holds Post Grad Cert in International Trade from NZ School of Export and a Double Degree BSc and BPhEd (Hons) from Otago University. Brendan also speaks and reads Spanish.Back
