Barry Allison

Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC)

Appointed to the LANZBC Board in April 2024, Barry is currently the International Market Development - Latin America at Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC).

Barry has a long history in Latin America, starting in 1987 as an AFS exchange student to Brazil. Since then, he haslived and worked in Latina America mostly in a sales and marketing capacity for NZ Agritech companies exporting to the region, but also a 6-year period with Open Country Dairy in the early years of their existence. 

He is confident in my ability to successfully contribute to fostering trade and relations between New Zealand and South America.

Throughout his career, He has been identifying opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, and building lasting relationships with key stakeholders. His xperience has provided a deep understanding of international trade complexities and cultural nuances, preparing him to support NZ companies in South America, and vice versa.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and having lived and worked in Mexico, Brazil, and the USA, as well as extensive business and pleasure travel in South America, he brings a multicultural perspective to the role. This allows him to not only communicate effectively with local partners but also bridge cultural gaps, facilitating fruitful relationships between New Zealand and South American businesses.
