Latin American interest in New Zealand agribusiness running high

F2F pic 2

With agricultural groups coming from Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina in 2019, it is looking to be a strong year for in-bound groups visiting New Zealand reports James Dixon, Technical Manager of Farm To Farm Tours Ltd. The Canterbury-based technical agricultural tour operator has been active for over 20 years receiving groups from Latin America. The company also takes Kiwis interested in agriculture and Latin American culture to the region each season.

The focus of the different groups coming to New Zealand this year is wide, covering dairy, sheep and beef production, processing and marketing, so there will be opportunities for the visitors to gain insights into pasture-based livestock production systems and the industry structure here. New Zealand suppliers of consultancy services, agri-technology and genetics will also be able to further develop sales networks and contacts with the region through this interaction.

Recent trade agreements have raised the awarenesses of the opportunities and sped up the process of doing profitable business, so reciprocal trade, and visits, are set to continue growing into the future.
